I love to stand at the kitchen sink and be able to watch Austin as a big brother in action! He has bad moments too but he really amazes me at how well he can entertain and enjoy a three year old. They have a blast together! What a blessing Austin is! I wonder what the two of them talk about when they are sitting out there on that snow pile!!

Keziah is 39 MONTHS!
My beautiful, beautiful girl is another month older! I can't believe how big she is getting! Everyday she seems older and more mature and she's definitely getting more of a sense of humor! I think she is learning well from her brother!!
Not much has changed from last month...Kezzie changed her favorite color! This was a big deal because she has loved blue for as long as I can remember! February 8th she got my attention because she had something important to say, she no longer liked blue, she loves purple! And just like that she requested everything to be in purple! Purple plate for supper, purple bowl for breakfast, purple cup, etc.!
Kezzie found a love for legos this month. She got some for Christmas from my sister and she plays with them at least a couple times a day. She likes to make towers but gets so frustrated when they fall over. She also likes to make stairs for her little people to climb up. Her favorite thing to make is a castle. This, of course, requires help from mommy but when it's all done, she plays with it for a long time with her little people. When she is done with it she lets Adah crash it and Adah loves this!
Keziah also spends a lot of her time playing basketball in the house. This is a favorite for her and Austin to do together. She is really quite good at it too. She is going to be like her daddy and love basketball! She hasn't exactly perfected a dribble, but she won't give up trying! I love her persistence!
On Feb. 12 Keziah and I sat down and did a work sheet from her work book. It was kind of an overview of the alphabet. We work on letters but I haven't ever gone through the whole alphabet in one sitting with her. She was able to match a sticker with a picture on it with each letter of the alphabet. She did every letter except U (the picture was of an arrow pointing up). I was AMAZED!
Kezzie is still in love with the Wiggles. She frequently asks if we can go see them. She will say, "it would be so cool if we could go see the Wiggles" (in a sad kind of voice). I tell her it would cost a lot of money to go see the Wiggles because they live really far away! She says, "I can go get my piggy bank!" I tell her it would cost a lot more than that because we would have to get on a plane to go where they live. She said, "I could shake my piggy bank and then there would be enough." I wish that would work! She is so sweet!
Kezzie gets to watch TV when she wakes up until I can get her breakfast. She used to pick Dora to watch but lately she doesn't want anything to do with Dora and instead watches Mickey Mouse Clubhouse. Dora has been her favorite for a really long time but just like that she was done with her. She will still watch it if there isn't anything better, but it isn't her top pick!
Keziah still has a great love for books. We have story time at our house around 1:15. Kezzie gets to pick two books and Adah also gets to pick two. They both sit very well for each other's books. Kezzie also loves books on our iPad. She knows how to find what she's looking for all on her own but sometimes I will still sit down with her and 'watch' the books be read to her. There is an app on the iPad that gives a free book every day that you use it. Kezzie looks forward to this every morning. I am so glad she likes to read so much! She is even still happy with babyish books!
Keziah is doing great sleeping at night and staying dry. She had a set-back last month where she was having several accidents so we put her in a pull up every night. I think we are getting close to trusting her again! There's nothing worse than changing sheets in the middle of the night! I don't think I have mentioned before that we gave Kezzie her paci back, yet again...hear me out...the dentist said she is doing a lot of damage by sucking her finger and that we should give her paci back. Kezzie is a very serious finger sucker so in an attempt to get her mind off her finger a little I thought by giving her paci back, only while she is sleeping, that might help. It seems to help a little. She doesn't really suck it unless she is watching TV. I don't know what to do anymore, honestly. It's pretty exhausting but I need to remember that it is unlikely that she will still be sucking it when she is 20, so maybe I just need to relax on the matter!
She is waking around 6:30 every morning and still naps around 1:30/2-3:30/4. She goes to bed around 8pm. I think she must be growing because she is eating like a champ and complains that her legs hurt quite often.
OLD NEWS: I forgot to put a couple things in Kezzie's last month post. We removed her bedrail last month (1/18/11). She hasn't fallen out of bed even once and was actually really excited to have it taken off. It's just easier access to give hugs and kisses and much easier to make the bed (especially while changing all those sheets!). Kezzie also stopped using the potty seat that sits on the big potty all on her own. She thinks she is such a big girl and so proud of herself. It grosses me out because she has to put her hands on the seat to get up and balance herself but she is getting good at washing her hands after she goes! If there is anybody around that hasn't seen her get on the potty all by herself she will beg and beg for somebody, anybody to come see how big she is at getting on the big potty! It is so sweet! She does this with spitting out her big girl toothpaste too. Sometime in the last month or three she started using toothpaste with fluoride which means she has to spit, she knows this is a big step in becoming a big girl and still asks if people (aka-anyone other than mommy) wants to come watch her spit. It's so much fun growing up...that is until you are a grown up of course! : )
I can't get enough of Kezzie's giggles and smiles. She truly brightens my day! I am always excited to see what the next day will bring!

Kezzie's Art
I love the progression of Keziah's drawings. She is becoming quite the artist! Take note of the dates. The one in the upper right corner is the first picture she ever drew that actually looked like something. She came to me and said, "Mom you have to come look at my kid I drew." And a kid it was! She keeps getting better too. The big one on the left is what it progressed into. It doesn't have three legs, however, the line in the middle is actually the body and the other two lines are legs. She occasionally draws a belly button and feet (she forgets about feet unless someone asks where they are), and rarely draws a nose. She doesn't intentionally draw a sad face but instead tries every time to make it look like a smile but can't quite get the angle right on it (she seriously gets frustrated over this). That last picture is of her and I. She drew herself and then said, "Now I am going to draw you, mom. You are going to be much bigger."

Kitty Cat!
We left Cedar Rapids earlier this afternoon and came to Cedar Falls to stay the night instead of going all the way back home before church tomorrow. It's always funny when you get Adah around the cats because she is such a lover of them! Goliath (that's the cat) loves to hang out in the tub and especially likes to get in there when he thinks he is safe from Adah! That wasn't the case since Adah and Kez just wanted to join him! He is pretty tolerable most of the time but you just have to watch his actions because he will get to the point where he is tired of the attention and start to snap. That never sways Adah's love for him though...she just keeps coming back for more!!!
A Baby Shower!
Last night I came to Cedar Rapids and stayed with a friend of mine (Kristin) that I used to work with at Yellowbook. I miss her and don't get to see her nearly enough but I had the perfect excuse to come to Cedar Rapids and stay with her. Today we had a baby shower for a mutual friend (Jami) that used to work at Yellowbook with us. She is due in April (right around my birthday) and it was so great to see her and her beautiful growing belly! Kristin is also expecting a baby this summer! Kezzie and Adah had a great time too, although Keziah was really confused on where the 'shower' was. I didn't even think about that being confusing and tried my best to explain why it is called a shower but she still asked several times when we were going to see a shower. There were two adorable little girls there that Kezzie enjoyed drawing with and talking to. Adah mostly just made me nervous as the shower was at a very beautiful (expensive) home. Not really a place for little ones to run around in!! I am already looking forward to the next time I can get together with these ladies and meeting the new little ones!

Beautiful Day!
What a day it was today...almost 60! I had to find some time outside with the kiddos! Kezzie is getting really good at peddling on her trike and Adah is equally mastering the art of walking in snow boots! Adah right away found an acorn and carried it on our walk almost the whole way. We met daddy coming home in the alley so he parked the car and caught up to us.
I had to stick in the cute shots of Adah on top of the coffee table and sitting so nice on the couch. She LOVES to climb anything possible and when it isn't possible, she finds a way!!

My Valentine's!
Today was valentine's day! The perfect day to lay on that little extra bit of LOVE on the loves in your life! I know we sure did!! Brian and I have been watching ebay for quite some time now for some 'new' Wiggles pajamas for Keziah. We knew we were running out of time so we jumped on a nightgown that is really made for warmer weather but will work fine with a pair of pants. She LOVES them! We also scored a Wiggles necklace, a Strawberry Shortcake video, and some new music for our dance marathons we have every afternoon! Adah got a new pair of jammies too! And Austin got an iPod cover, an iTunes gift card, and a two pack of mechanical pencils (the boy LOVES mechanical pencils!). Brian got me a white and red rose and some thin mint candies (my favorite). Beyond all of these things God has blessed us with each other. I love my little family and praise God so much for giving them to me! I hope you all are finding ways to LOVE the loves in your life a little more today!

Bake/Craft Sale
Today was the bake craft sale for my Uncle Craig who is battling cancer. He goes to Rochester soon for a bone marrow transplant and he and my Aunt needed some money to help with their expenses while there. These pictures are actually from yesterday of some of the goodies we baked up. My mom also made a giant heart cake and some cookies with chocolate hearts in the middle and I made some banana choc. chip bread too. The picture down in the corner was actually my cousins picture taken with her phone of the candy bouquets I made. They turned out so nice and sold right away. I wish I would have made more of them! It was very heartwarming to walk into the sale last night where my cousins were setting things up and see all the things that had been donated. What an incredible blessing! And the feeling that you get when you help somebody else out is indescribable. I am so thankful I got to be a part of it all. The sale was a HUGE success! I only pray that the transplant is a success also. If you think of it, you can say a prayer for him. He is such a good man, father, grandpa and husband. We aren't ready to let him go! I think he can fight this and I am sure that with God's grace and mercy and love, he will win!

An Alderman Visit
Today was a great day! I had plans to come to my parents' house to bake with my mom all day for my Uncle Craig's craft/bake sale that is happening tomorrow. It's my mom's birthday today so it was extra special that I got to spend the day with her. BUT to make the day even more special, when I arrived this morning, my big sister Casey and her two sweet kiddos came over for a long visit to wish my mom a happy birthday! Gavin is going to be 6 in July (I can't believe it) and Molly was born just shortly after Christmas! Keziah and Gavin had a great time together and Adah really enjoyed giving Molly kisses and just looking at her! She adores babies so much! And I, of course, loved cuddling baby Molly too! It was so great to see them! After they left, it was time to get going on our baking! It was a lot of fun baking with my mom and hanging out with her. She means the world to me. Happy Birthday, mom! I love you so much! And you will hear more on the bake/craft sale in a later post!

My sweeties!
Today was a two hour delay turned into a snow day! I love these days because it gets Austin up and moving since he thinks he still has to go to school eventually and then it's just the icing on the cake when they call it for the day! He is in Heaven! His sisters love it when he is home. He is such a wonderful big brother! He will often find songs or little video clips on his iPod that will entertain them and the three of them look so sweet cuddling together to watch! I am so blessed!
Snowy Fun!
The girls and I were able to get outside for a bit today. I think it took us longer to get ready to go out then we were actually out there though! It made for a couple of cute pictures and Adah enjoyed going down our small hill of snow in the yard. It wasn't until she fell face first into the snow that she was ready to go in! It left her face looking rather rosy too! Nothing a nice long, warm nap won't take care!! And that is exactly what they both did! Kezzie loved being outside, as always!!

A Hideout!
Kezzie found a great place to hang out! She emptied out all the toys from the toy box, threw in a couple blankets and she and Adah had a lot of fun giggling together! I remember playing in a big wooden toy box that my dad made when I was little. It's funny the things you remember and cherish! And it's so great to see my own kids making some of the same memories!

Where a kid can be a kid!!
Today I met a good friend (graduated high school, went to Kindermusik together and attend the same church) at Chuck-E-Cheese's with her son, Rorek. Kezzie and Rorek get along quite well. We ordered some pizza and hung out through lunch. By the time we had run out of tokens we were all ready to be done! It was the perfect day/time to do it because aside from a couple other kids, we were the only ones! It was nice to get away and do something I knew the girls would LOVE! I am pretty sure both girls would say their favorite was the miniature carousel. Although, Adah had a good time crawling up the ski-ball game too!
